Brief Biography:

Phil Dean, President

Phil Dean is the President of Qessential Medical Market Research and has led the company since 1997. He joined Qessential (formerly Harbaugh Associates) as Vice President in 1994 and sharpened its focus on specialty pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Previously Mr. Dean served as Vice President of Biomedical Business International responsible for all custom research projects for this leading device-industry market analysis firm. Over the last 19 years, his projects included research in virtually every medical technology field including cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, urology, interventional radiology, vascular surgery, orthopedics, interventional neuroradiology, and surgical instrumentation.

Mr. Dean participates in data collection (focus group moderation, complex technical interviewing, survey development), data analysis, and results presentation (reports and customer presentations).  He began conducting technical telephone interviews in 1982 and has conducted thousands of interviews with physicians since then. His ability to detect unexpected responses and probe for better explanations creates a richer data set from interviews he conducts. Mr. Dean has 24 years of market research experience and has completed more than 700 studies in the medical technology industry. He received his Masters degree from California State University.
